The wife has just come back from the shop with my kit car mag, i was reading through the seven replica guide and came to the mk indy review. at the
bottom they say.
IT HAS TO BE SAID THAT THERE ARE A FEW COMPANINES IN THE KIT CAR INDUSTRY WHITCH ARE FINANCIALLY UNSTABLE.
WE'RE AFRIAD THIS IS ONE OF THEM IF WHAT THEY'VE SAID TO US IS TAKEN AT FACE -VALUE!
If MK are finding times hard at the mo, this wright up will only make things harder for the company as people like myself how are looking to build
there first car would not put there money in to MK fearing that they might fold befor they get there kit and lose everything???
As this was one of my top 3 cars to chose from!!!
I was also looking at MK as a potential next car if i decide to sell mine (Competition with a mate of mine to see whos would be quicker) but after his
experiences, the bad feedback ive read and the reception i got at Newark, ive dropped them from the shortlist.
I think it sounds to me (though i havent read the article) that the KC mag article could be a personal thing. Certainly if i were MK id be looking
for a lawyer, but i had already made my decision by the time i had heard about the article. Im not interested in propaganda rather, feedback on
service levels and quality. Ive already been burnt in the last 12 months, and i dont intend to be so keen to hand over even more money based on
information ive found.
Lovely looking car, but im not buying one.
Have a look at the post with the same title a week or so ago.
Sounds fairly litigous to me
What did they say?
We arnt selling as many cars as we did before the recesion?
Raw materials cost more we may have to put our prices up to stay in profit?
Cox!
I missed that post a week ago, or I would have put a reply.
I wonder if Mr.Tanner is about to sell a 7 type car?
The mud slinging between Tanner and Filby goes back more than 20 years.
I worked with a guy locally who was building a kit, new to market, that competed with a well known established kit.
When the advertising for the first ad went in to WK, the ad was on the desk of the competition before the mag was printed! Straight from Filby's
desk to the competition. Turned out Filby had a stake in the company. As he did in quite a number of kit co's. He also bought and sold cars and
part builts through a couple of co's.
So, Filby had many vested interests. Mr.Tanner has only a couple.
As I overheard Filby say at one show, 'I control the kit industry. I take the advertisng money, put the ads where I want, and say what I
want.' Arrogant prick, but close to the truth. If it's in writing in a mag, it must be true. NOT SO!
How many of you have spoken to MK to find out what is going on?
The kit industry is one cesspit that no-one needs to play in full time. Well, unless you can do so without advertising in the kit mags.
I'd like to see what would happen if Tanner said the same thing about Westfield or Cateringvan.
Cheers,
Nev.
Who are Tanner and Filby?
Peter Filby and Den Tanner.
The whole saga is written here.
I wonder who wrote it?

Filby used to own Which Kit, that was bought out and became CompleteKitcar
Tanner owns KitCar Magazine.
They both own/owned Kit car manufacturers so both have/had a conflicts of interest when writing reviews and charging for advertising space.
They had a huge falling out when Filby called one of Tanners cars dangerous and badly designed.
Writs flew and both used their magazines to constantly attack the other until I got sick of the pair of them and stopped reading either magazine.

No I genuinely wonder who wrote it. It sounds a bit like Den Tanner had a huge influence on it.
I read this article also, but had already decided against an MK at the time so wasnt much affected by it. Have to admit I was shocked to read it in a magazine though.
Having read that link, to me its seems they are as bad as each other
A right pair of .I.
Steve
I did not know this sort of stuff went on in this industry. I thought the companies seemed very close but it seems too close!
Glad I read PPC mag now. All sorts of other madness goes on in there without repeating write ups and ads.
Oh and I dont work for any mag or want to promote any particular manufacturer. The choice of car make to go for is very personal and often boils down
to their location anyway!
Surprised neither are on here... or maybe they are!?
Yeah I'm kinda surprised too. I wonder if they're Calvin and Syd Bridge in disguise
