SWIMBO's tin top Fiesta mk6 1.3 2002 60,000 mile is making a strangish noise which Im suspecting is a left hand wheel bearing.
However, I've always run vw's into starship mileages, and wheel bearings start with a light drone then get louder and louder until I change
it. and get louder when you load them up in the bends I have done at least 10 in my time.
The noise is very quiet but evident, definately left hand side, gets louder when turning right, but not loud enough to definately be front ot rear.
The weird thing is instead of getting proportionally loader with speed or when you load it up. it sounds more like a faint scoring noise and its
either silent or its there when you load it up with nothing inbetween. It is very quiet so may let it get louder to be certain it may be road noise
cancelling it out with speed.
I will jack it up and do the obvious one night this week but was just wondering if anyones had similar on a mk 6 fiesta anyone has had the pleasure of
changing them, they are the press out type
I had a similar problem with a Cortina, (many moons ago), and it turned out to be a stone trapped in the brake caliper, not saying yours is the same but worth a look!. HTH Ray
Also have a look at the CV joints, I have had to replace them on a lot of Fords I have owned
I'd have a quick look for the state of the brake pads first
