choice to make

hi fokes

i've got a choice to make, my wife and i have a baby (first) due in september so i dont think i will finsh my haynes before then so time could be a big problem. should i go out and buy myself a mazda rx8 or should i try to finsh the roadster over time.???? there is a third choice but the wife could have a problem with that 1.

A work colleague had an RX8 as a company car, after 3 months of 20mpg he was willing the next 2 years 9 months away, I'd stick with the kit and work on it as other comittments permit.

i'm with him. i'll be in a similar situation soon, and theres no way i'm giving up on my motor, how else am i going to make my child the coolest at school if it doesn't arrive in a cloud of smoke and noise

I take it you already have a family car of some sort? In which case where's the rush? Heck maybe littl'un can help you in a few years

I started my Haynes Roadster about 2 weeks before we found out we were having our second boy. He was 3 in September! But the car is now really close to finished, and taking my time has meant that I can wait for the real bargains to turn up. As a result, the car has probably cost less in the long run. Babies soon turn into toddlers, and instantly become more independant, you will have time to spend on your car again! My car has been built 15 minutes at a time over the last few years, it all adds up! Keep at it my man!

Rather than spend the cash on whatever toy you're considering, use the cah to farm out bits of work on the Haynes whenever you feel you've lost momentum. That's what I would be doing if I had the cash rather than sneaking out into the freezing cold garage when the kids are in bed!

If you can afford an RX8, buy a roadster.

Don't worry, the little thing will have you up at all hours.
You will be amazed at how much extra time you will get, admittedly at the expense of sleep.

My first was 2 months old when I started my build and the second arrived halfway through, I still completed it in two years along with another house project working nights weekends etc. Don't chuck in the towel yet just make the most of it and the extra time created i.e when you get woken up at 6:00 don't go back to sleep use the time to do the quiet stuff.

When they get to about 2 start teaching spanner sizes and which way a nut undoes etc

My youngest now 3.5 helps me in the garage constantly

If you'd spent more time building and less time shagging you wouldn't have the problem, get your priorities in order. To make the same mistake twice is inexcusable, haven't you lot heard of contraception?
