What cards do those people who have video recorders/data loggers use?

I'm just working out what card to get, 2 channels of video at 20Mbps + data too. So i'm thinking I need a card that will run at 400x or 60mbps however this does push the cost up a fair bit!

What do other people use?

The data part will be very small compared with the video so the write rate will be closer to 40mbs, I will look at work as we run Pabasonic to CF cards

Thats probably a bit over the top and would be a maximum write rate, are you after C/F or S/D, if you can use C/F it will normally be cheaper.

The first thing you will need to find out though is the method of storage that the system uses, if its full frame then yes you will be looking at a 60Mb/s card, but if it uses conditional refresh then write rate will be a lot lot lower.

Having just looked at the stack VDL they specify 20Mb/s card for 4 video channels and data overlay, using 720x576@ 25Fps.

OK, having looked further at the stack sytem no wonder it requires hyper quick cards,

Firstly the figures quoted are for D1 resolution, these are uncompressed files and are huge ! To put this into perspective D1 resolution is better than blueray, however unfortunately stack havn't progressed passed Mpeg2 hence the issue.

I don't think you will ever have to run at maximum resolution, 1/2 D1 should be more than enough.

Using their rates given a 16Mb card would give you nearly an hours recording using 2 cameras on 1/2D1, this is without altering the bit rates.

Cant say i have ever used transend, i have always used sandisk or integral ultima.
