What is the best way of paying for a car without collecting it and paying in cash, looking at a car but would be paying for delivery to transport
company but what is the safest/best way to pay for the car around £2000.

I would prefer to hand over a draft/cheque/cash and take the V5(or whatever it is called thesedays) stuff, then send the transporter at an agreed
time? otherwise you could send a cheque or bank transfer?
Best is to pay a deposit and the balance when it is collected, but you can't do that..................
It's a tough one, first Ebay bike I bought from a distance I paid by cheque, no comeback if it goes wrong though, spent the delivery day worrying
that either there was no bike and my money had gone or the Ebay courier might pick my bike up and bugger off with it! Luckily worked out well though
Couldn't think of a non risky way at the time so cheques had to do
I'd say your better off paying by cheque or electronically so you've got some proof from the bank rather than handing over the money and sending the collection guy later. As long as the guy is the one on the V5 and the address matches up I'd say your pretty safe though, your big risk with cash is getting mugged.
i actually paid for my kit by bank transfer, i never even saw it before i bought it, but i've always been a bit too trusting....
to be fair though, the guy wrapped it all up for me and prepped it for the courier to pick up....
I argee best wat is face to face but car is in Ireland so not really practical.
Ireland?? transporting back to Lincolnshire??
It must be special! Surely the cost of transportation is going to outweigh any savings??
Sorry, it must make sense otherwise you wouldn't be doing it
I suspect if Southern Ireland you may have another layer of grief with exchange rates and have to use an international bank transfer.
so what is the motor? must be special to go to that trouble....
White Striker from Pistonheads is my guess
It is from Northern Ireland transport would cost £360 door to door.Car is not disimiliar to yours pekwah1.
Car has been used as trackday car so does not have a V5 but believe it has been road registered.
yeh saw that one on ph as well, jealous of your road registration, should be fairly simple to get it back on the road!
Was on e bay also do not know what went wrong

We used a guy from Leeds to transport quite a few rough kit cars up and down the country and if we paid him (whom we had met and spoke to regularly)
he would then pay the bloke his cash on collection.
This arrangement semed to have a bit more control rather than stuffing used notes through a bloke's letterbox while he was at work (which we had
to do once.)
The system was never perfect and ocasionally he would whip in quick and pick up a car we hadn't paid for
which resulted in some poor bloke
phoning up asking us to pay for his car. Maybe I should write a book one day
