Hi Guys
Anyone got any ideas with this one.
Out of the blue my Vectra C 1.8 petrol has decided not to rev beyond 2500 - 3000 it just runs out of power.
I have checked.....
Fuel to injectors OK
Injector firing into cups OK
My OP Com is not showing any faults & confirms it is NOT in limp mode
It ticks over fine and revs to 2- 3k then even with foot to floor it wont go any further
Ideas Please
RD
Coil pack?
Thought that but does not miss just power fade but it is on my list of thigs to swap Just so expensive

blocked air filter or collapsed ducting from filter?
If it was the ECU going into limp home or introducing an early rev-limit due to a crank sensor problem you'ld expect an obvious "cut". If it's running out of puff you'ld think a restriction somewhere such as fuel filter or air filter. Try wipping off the air filter and trying again. Fuel filter partial blockge is tricky without swapping the filter or sticking a wideband in and seeing what's happening to the mixture when it runs out of puff (fuel filter blockage would cause a lean run). Coil pack failing would also cause the mixture to go rich to non-ignited cycles. Might even be colortune-able?
Sounds like limp home mode to me. Got a code reader to check the obd (or whatever its called) port?
Oxygen sensor, thing stuck into the exhaust, when they go you get these sort of symptoms. Varies depending on ECU. It's about a £30 part...
Fuel filter blocked?? you may have fuel at the injectors etc at idle but do you have enough flow to keep up the pressure at higher revs??
A cheap try IMHO
Had fuel filter and air filter out No difference even dropped the exhaust off !
My Op Com software shows that limp home mode has not been ativated
Cheers RD
does it rev freely when it's not under load?
no it wont even rev sat in garage..........
Crank sensor would be my next change.
Can you log it on your software?
It may be within the set "check" parameters but still faulty at revs.
ETA try changing it out with a working one. Perhaps a neighbour or mate has the same type of engine

Cat melted, restricting the exhaust, with the engine reving does it suck hard on the inlet? if not this points to a blocked cat.
Leads / Coilpack would be my first port of call, presuming it is not Coil on plug?
Followed by MAF sensor
Dropped exhaust off cat. When you try to rev it it sucks realy hard on inlet.
It also has coil per plug flat coilpack on top of plugs.
Look like I might have to take to a Vauxhall stealer.

What's the rev counter doing when it's losing power? If it's going nutty, then check the crank position sensor. But first, check the carpet isn't stuffed under the throttle pedal!!
check the CAM position sensor, they cause them sort of things...also has the timing belt jumped a tooth?
try dissconecting the plug on the airflow meter and give it a run down the road.

Hi there could b daft but have u tryed to take the filler cap off when it happens could b a blocked fuel tank beather
Already tried running with air flow sensor disconnected Also tried filler cap............ doin my head in now
