57 plate Passat lost key, push to start fob type.

What's it going cost to get a replacement from VW?

I got quoted £180 for a 51plate polo key and labour.... a few years ago

Do you still have one of the keys? If so, there are companies who can succesfully clone the remaining key to give you an extra working one.... should cost about £60 including a key....

Definately not just you. I had to replace a fuel filter on an 06 fiat doblo the other day and the retail price was over £50!

Local VW dealer has quoted £110 inc. VAT for the replacement key + £27 inc. VAT for coding.

Found a used key on fleabay for £20, which local VW dealer is pepared to code for the same price.

I've hit "Buy It Now" so fingers crossed!

Huh, and I was going to say you'll have to stick your wallet up your backside and bend over for them, but those prices sound fairly reasonable considering what goes into these things these days (my spare key starts the engine, and the alarm at the same time... probably something to do with the coding..)

Well, the 2nd hand key turned up 2 hrs after the car had been collected so no chance to visit the VW dealer and try getting it coded. Posted the key off to the lease co. anyhow - hopefully they won't realise it doesn't work with the vehicle!
