can my tin-top have fleas ?
Agriv8 - 30/3/11 at 07:38 PM

It seems the new tin top has had a dog in the car in the past found dog hairs.

Any way over the last few weeks I have been getting the odd bite on the ankles so gave the car a good hover / clean and treated carpets with bob martin flea spray anyway I am now covered with over 30 bites so gusing i have found the source ( but could be wrong ) !

So a few quiestion

1) I thought I would have seen them jumping ( large grain of black sand Jumping when I have founf them on dogs)
2) how can I get rid of them will the free spray work ?
3) anything better treatments that would work ?

Many thanks Agriv8

We have used a powder type insecticide on carpets in the past. Seemed to work quite well.

U need an flea killing aerosol like raid and a couple of days. Hold your breath and spray the hole inside of the car and leave it shut for a few hours. All under the seats etc. Then give it a good airing and hoover before you use it or youl gas yourself.

The powder stuffs good but theyl be in the seats aswell which i wouldnt powder.

BTW bob martin is crap. get some good stuff from pet shops or vets.

Go to the vet and get some Nuvan Staykill, don't hang around in the car after you use it though It's an aerosol we used to use on the dog's bedding when they got infested and you could see the blighters dropping off after you used it.

Nuke 'em!!

Nah, second thoughts, they'd probably just grow into some mutant insect!

Mmmm I nip down to the petshop in the village this aft ( also a grooming palour as well ) so I suspect they will stock some stronger stuff.

I ll stick my spraying mask on when treating the car ( that will raise a few eyebrows with the curtain twichers up the street )

Thanks Chaps

Fleas are nasty little things! Get them DEAD!

Used to be an occupational hazard... we would be going in and out of mega-manky houses all days and it wasn't uncommon for someone to drag the little barstewards back in the cars to the stations! It would cause chaos as the car would have to be put off the road and the office closed for cleaning!

They don't like steam ---- steam wall paper stripper/steam cleaner thing.

I used to have a sheep mart at the top of my garden when I lived in the sticks, and on a good day 20,000 sheep.

My cats used to pick up allsorts

Go to your local vets, they will have a suitably potent spray to kill everything in your car, prior to discovering this we spent weeks scrubbing and spraying the house with stuff bought in Morrisons.

The spray from the vets worked immediately.
