crank sensor too far from the trigger wheel, reduced the gap to half a mm and pow!
Had to make a few tweeks to the pulse width, fueling and spark angle but apart from that it wasn't too much bother.
Looks smart, sounds tappy is that normal?
was thinking that it sounds very tappetty too
Me too, but mine is no orchestra so who am I to talk
At least yours ticks over, mine won't yet

That's bizarre, I would have never have thought you could get an RPM signal on the ECU but not enough to run the engine. Well you learn something new every day
not trying to hijack the thread, but is that a race technology dash 2? if so whats it like please? ive just ordered one
Very clattery top end there chief.
The old Pinto gives the cam a hard life at the best of times.
Maybe best to pull the cam cover and double check you have the clearances right.
Something's amiss there and it's best caught soon.
Yes deffo check your tappets and while you are at it make sure there is good oil feed down the spray bar.

the cam has double valve springs in it, they are not your normal tappets either, they are HD Tappets from Millington, wider & thicker, the cam is
out of a 2.4 pinto, very lumpy indeed!
The engine is out of the car now as the clutch isn't engaging! looks like the forks on the pressure plate are too long so it need replacing with
a normal pressure plate.
