More proof of Kwik-Fit uselessness - if needed

Son-in-laws Astra needed MOT and I told him not to take it to Kwik-Fit like he did last year.
Kwik-Fit serviced the car and they told him he needed new tyres, a headlamp bulb and new brake pads, all of which I doubt were needed. They passed it
after fitting the new parts.
This year he took the Astra to Xpress MOT and it failed. 
The fail list was for three things, two tyres fitted wrong directionally, headlamp beam too low, oil reservoir too full.
The Son-in-law doesn't do many miles and he has not had a puncture in years so the tyres that Kwik-Fit fitted last year were mounted wrong
directionally. 
The headlamp that was too low was the one Kwik-Fit put the new bulb in for last MOT.
The reservoir was no doubt topped up by, guess who, Kwik-Fit.
My Son-in-law now knows why I told him not to go to Kwik-Fit.

Brake fluid reservoir ?
If they fitted new pads they would probably have pushed the fluid back into the reservoir.

I assume it was the power steering reservoir. Cant think of any other oil reservoir.
He took the Astra to small local garage and they sorted it all out for £20.

Never heard of failing for too much oil unless it was leaking or causing a smoke screen

Didn't think they checked reservoirs anyway? Can't say I've ever seen a tester check them.

had my car mot'd yesterday they didnt check any of the fluids, i was stood next to the car strange

Wouldn't have thought you could overfill brake/power steering reservoir, you just brim them don't you.
Must be something else they're talking about.

Fluid levels are not checked on MOT. Not quite sure what it could be!

Might have been an advisory rather than a fail.

I've never seen a high fluid level fail a test at an MOT in 30+ years in the trade. Brake fluid level is checked to make sure it's not too
low (advisory and gives them a clue to look for leaks) and I've seen diesel smoke tests abandoned due to low engine oil in the past, but not
recently.

Nope! They both have "max/min" levels. Don't over fill as that space allows for heat expantion.

I never knew that, I've always just sloshed it in. Note to self, the marks are there for a reason.
