MOT Advice please
omega0684 - 10/4/11 at 07:46 AM

Morning all,

In the next couple of weeks i will have to embark on my first Kit Car MOT. My car is a "Q" Plate so i know i haven't got to have an emissions test but what else are the cars exempt from?

cheers

Alex

Q plate should be visual smoke . Take your registration documents IIRC it will be on there just to be on the safe side

As I understand it older Q plates are visable smoke only, but newer SVA/IVA cars should be tested to the same limits as at thier SVA/IVA and thats on the MOT system when the cars logged on for test. However in practice it seems that some testers mistakenly still just test as visable smoke (if you're lucky).

The rest of the test is exactly the same as for tin-tops.

Depends on the age of the Q plate:

Check the box at the bottom of this flow chart:

Take a look at the front page of your V5 at the bottom of the page the emissions will be stated ( they are on my 2009).

it will state the emmissions on the bottom left of your v5 mate...
