Front Suspension on Formula Vee...

Ut looks quite 'meaty', so I guess it is car-derived. Anyone have any clue about what or where they are from?

Cheers

that is the front torsion beam from a humble classic vw beetle

The orginal steel ones are quite heavy but indestructible, a light weight alloy design is available these days

This suspensions advantages are that ride height can easly be adjustable and it is all self contained, held onto the chassis with just 4 bolts

In case you didn't know, formula vee are beetle based cars with the aircooled engine and gearbox rotated 180 degs (the diff cog is flipped over)

i also think its from a vw beetle

Isn't that what Formula Vee was originally about, using VW parts, the Vee standing for VW

yeah I think it start off a bit like the locost idea as a cheap way of getting into motorsport. With so little weight they go like stink

The trusty old Beetle, eh!?

Knew I'd seen it before somewhere!

Cheers!
