Does anyone have access to a VAG-COM system in the Harrogate area as I am looking to enable the cruise control on my Passat - 10 second software job
that you get charged the earth for.
Ross appears to have a free downloadable version of their software but needs a special cable, found this on fleebay but will it work with the free
software ?? VAG COM USB DIAGNOSTIC CABLE 409.1 OBD2 II LEAD VAG-COM | eBay UK
I remeber trying to get it done on my v70, 11 quid for the indicator stalk with the cruise buttons on and 600 quid for the software update.
I guess a drive to Gloucester would be cheaper

Also, the cable will probably work, but the free version of the software wont let you make any changes, just read some of the errors.
For what it's worth I bought the same cable from the same seller and it works a treat.
I used the VDS Lite free Ross Tech download but so far only for reading fault codes. As for if it will do what you want there is a table on Ross
Tech's website which will help you.

As of recently all Genuine VAGCOM software only "fully" talks to a geniune approved cable, as now each cable has a chip inside it that Authenticates itself, dont ask how i found this out !!!!
