My new toy arrived in the post today a for my Saab 9-3, a USB BDM adapter 
So I have spent the evening soldering in some pins and modifying my ECU to suit the new boost control valve, remapped the ECU to what should be
aproximatly 250BHP from 150BHP 
Altered one or two other minor bits like boost limit in 1st and 2nd so its now progressive rather than fixed.
So my car 'should' now outpace the HPT Aero car 
and has only cost me £40 to do, there will be a good few more mods, like 3bar MAP sensor,
larger injectors, upgraded turbo, stronger valve springs etc, with the aim to get to 400BHP+ for less than £500.
Once I have met my target the £475 Saab will then be broken for parts and the engine may well find its way into my MK hehe

Given the current spate of Saab mods going on, on here, I think it's something I'm going to have to take a better look at myself!

Nice work! The USB-BDM adaptor is such a handy bit of kit
Also, well done on the soldering, I ruined 2 ECU's before I got lucky on the 3rd! lol.
Did you desolder the 8 pins and put the header pins through the board to solder on the back or did you just solder them on top?

i use the can bus lead on my saab .how do you log stuff with the bdm to check any mods to the maps?

It was a struggle disconnecting pin 5 on one of the chips to make the APC valve work, just waiting for a piece of boost hose to arrive then I will be
taking it for a test run..... fingers crossed
I soldered each pin individuallyholding them with long nose pliers and heating the solder pad till they slipped through the hole that bit was pretty
easy compared to disconecting pin 5!

Pin 5..? is that the T7 mod?
Did you use the tuning wizard or manually alter it, or like me use the wizard then manually tweak afterwards?
I'll be running my standard ECU to get my first MOT after the rebuild/saab engine, will put the retuned one in once I've had a week or two
to get used to the car!

I have made hardware and software alteraptions to run the T7 Boost control soleniod as they are much cheaper and offer better boost control than the
T5 solenoid, this just involves soldering a bridge onto the PCB and disconnecting the legs on one of the small chips.
Currently I have used the wiizzard but made further changes to a couple of parameters, Im using it to learn so looking to build my own map from
scratch in time
