Suzuki SJ clutch swap..best way?
zetec - 1/6/11 at 10:12 AM

Just looking for someone who's done a clutch change on a SJ Suzuki. Kid who lives a few doors away has bought a one with a slipping clutch and asked me to help him change it...deep joy! Whats the easy route, drop the gearbox or lift the engine out? Cant be rocket science but a little advice can often make the job easy.

Would imagine it'd be easier to drop the box than faff around with all the hoses etc .It cant be as heavy as the rangerover box i had to wrestle in on my own.

From a very distance memory i have from when i did my apprenticeship at a Suzuki Garage (1998-2000)

You take out gear lever from inside (this is held in with a spring and cup on a baynet fitting (I thnk as the Vitara deffinately is)

The rest is obvious.

I've done a couple by taking the box out , not too difficult
