just wanted to know if anyone has tracked there 7 against a lotus exige s2? and what the outcome was. i love the look of them and would like one, but. for the price of one you could have a really nice kit plus a decent tin top! how quick are these things with a decent driver behind the wheel? cheers
They're quick in a straight-line, but you may be underwhelmed if coming from a lightweight BEC or the likes of a S2000 engined Seven-style car
like yours.
That said, the Exige is very easy to drive fast and they go around corners as fast as anything else I've ever driven!
It'll keep up with (and ahead of) most exotic things when in the right hands.
They are great cars like many others, its down to the driver of either car to make it count.
Closest modern production car i would say to a kit. Probably faster in a straight line than most but would be interesting to see lap times comparisons
to a BEC. Im searching the web now
We sprint against a guy in an Exige (same class) and he is a really good driver, very experienced racer. He's not far in front of us and we're getting closer, the difference is down to him not the car. On a long straight they will be quicker, they've got much better aerodynamics, round the twisty bits my money is on the kit (drivers being equal).
If i had to swap my kit in for a production car it would have to be a Supercharged S2 exige
Last track day at Lydden Hill there was one out on track with me. I over took him, he was lapping at 49+ seconds where I was on 48's. That said he went out most times with a passenger. It's difficult tp judge in these conditions, mayby, he was just careful and didn't want to thrash it. There is only one way to find out.......FIGHT
As said its hard to judge without knowing the other driver, but I've been on elvington with the super charged one and I caught it and passed a
couple of times. On the long straight we were pretty even up to 80ish then he had a slight edge but I could make it up in the corners.
That's our 2.3 duratec indy running around 200bhp.
what are they like off the line copared to a kit?
this is interesting as i would have thought the lotus would be better in the bends than the kit, but the kit quicker in a straight line!

Its the aero advantage that the exige will have in the straight line.
I honestly didn't find mine all that fast in a straight-line (non-SC). Lotus quoted 4.9 secs 0-60 for it, but like most manufacturers figures -
a tad optimistic methinks!
Off the line, then I'm still pretty sure that a lightweight Seven-style car with a sorted engine will lead it. The Exige would probably catch it
and pass the closer you got to 3 figures though.
I've just used the web
The supercharged jobbie does 0-100 in 9.9 seconds. A good engined car does it in the same or less it seems.
Going by the figures in the 1/4 mile thread that Matt_gsxr worked out, I've never seen a CEC do 0-100 in less than 10.4 secs (Including a S2000
and Nissan 200 SX Turbo engined cars) I've driven an S2 Exige and played with one on a trackday and they are seriously quick. If I had the money,
it would be my road/trackday weapon of choice.
