Crash at goodwood=new donor
franky - 4/7/11 at 07:36 PM

Had a good look at the Alpina as it was parked next to us after crashing.

The driver was on the inside of the bend and there was no way at all he would have got round at the speed he was going.

Doesn't look too bad though eh?

It'd now make a great donor for someone with the cash

looks like a easy fix no big damage but it would be a nice engine for some 1 lol

All airbags went off, All fluids leaking but it still ran ok! Fantastic car.

Should buff out with T-Cut.

Airbags = total loss. Write off. Shame

not at all mate i have repaired many of cars in a far worse state at work lots of times lol

franky - 4/7/11 at 08:07 PM

It might not be as only the front ones went off and it is a 70k motor.

Ben_Copeland - 4/7/11 at 08:12 PM

I was told by insurer that they wouldn't allow repair on a car that the airbags have gone off on. Due to the risk of being sued if there's a fault in another crash

Although they might be happy to palm it off to auction maybe??

A load of rubbish,

We sell cars every week at work that are accident damaged catagory C or D write offs that have air bags deployed.

We specialise in Land Rovers and Mitsubishi's, god only knows what kind of accident you need to have in a discovery to make the air bags go off! Out of the 300 or so discovery 2's we have bought in various states of accident damage ( some of it is what i would class as hard) i bet only 5 at most have had air bag deployment!

Thing with the airbags (especially the front passenger one) is that it tears the dashboard apart, if it's a single piece that could be a nice addition to the repair bill

I'm pretty sure that would be a write off, even if it is repairable.

Ah but are any repaired by the insurance company? Or are they all write offs?
