Hello to any MX5 experts in the house.

Can you tell me if ALL Eunos modles have a LSD or is it just the 1.8
Looking at the posibility of a reshell.

Cheers

My understanding is that MX-5 and Eunos re basically the same, with Eunos' typically having AC and different seats and numberplate holders. RE the diff I thought that was an optional extra and most MX-5s and Eunos don't have them.

Most Eunos's have them supposedly (whether 1.6 or 1.8) - but by no means all and a lot of them don't work very well after 20 years. To be honest the only way to know for sure is to check the actual car unfortunately.

The 1.6 Eunos was available with an LSD, but it was weaker viscous type.

For the 1.8, the torsen LSD was introduced, and was I believe fitted to most, though not all. Some models, like the G-Ltd, or the earliest 1.8s from 1993, didn't get it! There are so many editions and model variations its a bit of a minefield! I think the special editions based on the S-package, like the S-Special, should have one. There is a good model guide on one of the owners club website which breaks it all down.

ETA: I think reports of the LSD wearing out only really apply to the viscous units in the 1.6s. The torsens in the 1.8s should still be working fine (mine is! :-) )
