Want to upgrade the brakes on the golf. it is a 115 gt tdi.
Any reccomendations on what brake fluid would be good to change to?
Also, does anyone know the most cost effective brake upgrade? Looking for more stopping power for trackdays really!
Pads would normally be first try, get some ebc pads on them nice and cheaply
Ask on Scottish vag and you will probally get offered the parts as well
It's the main vw forum up our way....
Changing the discs for other standard size discs don't make any difference to stopping power.
Changing fluid to a different type won't make any difference either, just use fresh DOT 4 or DOT 5.1
With RHD Golfs the main reason for lousy brakes is the pedal linkage, the brakes are much better on LHD Golfs.
mine are pretty damn good in my opinion, work very well from the word go, BUT get a bit of heat into them and then they transform, like hitting a
brick wall
no idea what the pads are, as they were on the car when I purchased it, but they are green, and they work!
i know its about as far to the other end of the scale as you can get but... i lifted my discovery and because of that i fitted braided and extended
hoses. I know this wont make a blind bit of difference to the performance but has made the brakes feel much more positive, this said the hoses that
were on there would have been on there since 96. Maybe worth a thought as well as pads???
