Mini Cooper S Standard Back Box ... How much???
ash_hammond - 18/8/11 at 01:22 PM

SWIMBO reported her car was a little loud.

As T initially thought there is a hole in the backbox.

I said "Dont worry love i'll short it" as I left the house this morning."

Phoned KwickFit, £1150.... Phoned the local exhaust place.... £700 unfitted

It could be a costly mistake saying I would sort it.

I spot of weld may be required as the hole is not too big or a full stainless.

Seriously was not expecting that.

Ash

I'd have thought £200 tops.
Have you googled

Try .merlinmotorsport.co.uk/EXHAUSTS-Jetex-Exhaust-Parts if its a std shape you need 2 x 45 bends and a box. stacks to choose from.

I paid £50 for a complete standard MCS exhaust on ebay when I had one. People often pull them off at delivery to fit the JCW items, so keep an eye out

Agreed. I thought I would give them a chance as they were the cheapest when I got the tyres fitted.

Put a call into Thomas at 1320.

They might have some standard kit which they have swapped off customers cars.

So - if a backbox is £1150 , how much is a full system ferchristsakes
That is nothing short of criminal - that `box cant cost more than a fiver to make..........................

britishtrident - 18/8/11 at 07:51 PM

BMW back boxes are good quality usually triple skinned

The MINI Cooperr S exhaust changed completely in 2006 up to 2006 the system was very complex with 2 back boxes from 2006 a much simpler system was fiitted not unlike the real Mini cooper S

Badger_McLetcher - 18/8/11 at 08:15 PM

Yeah but we're still effectively looking at a tube to chuck exhaust gasses out, so £1150 seems a bit steep to me! Just get an aftermarket one if they're cheaper tbh. Unless it's got sensors in it for some reason you can swap it.
