Any suggestions as to which engines are the shortest in height (sump and ancillaries inclusive).
I know from personal experience that the RX8 is very compact when stripped, but it's still pretty tall when all the gubbins and gizmos are
fitted.
Boxer engines... ???
any flat 4 would be pretty short....
A moped engine
Yeah I imagine boxer engines are pretty low down
Most V engine configurations are pretty short too...

In normal engines what about a mazda V6? IIRC they're about 600mm cubed?

I've been amusing myself of late by drawing (using the term very loosely) a chassis! Nothings ever going to come of it.....
I'm saying nothing!
From a different angle and with the Rotrex supercharger now added and "belted" up...

How much power do you want? Some BMW bike opposedengines might fit the bill, and have shaft drive and gearboxes of reasonable strength (rated for
bike+rider+touring set up of 450 kg on a lot of models). Some even have reverse gear. Not hugely powerful by bike standards though, say about 100bhp.
I have no idea how tuneable they are. The recent 1000RR models are almost 200bhp as standard, but I suspect hard to find a used engine!
