What Would You Buy ?
perksy - 22/4/12 at 12:41 PM

Sadly time to start dipping into the pot of money that came from the sale of the Westfield

Decided to replace the wifes tin top

She needs a 5 door hatchback, Petrol engine (only does 4k per year)
Needs to have some reasonable performance so engine size 1400cc or higher

Not Peugeot, Renault, Citroen or Fiat

Favourite at the moment is the Mazda 2 sport (1500cc 16v )

Any other suggestions ?

Cheers
Perksy

Skoda fabia 1.4(go late mk1) much better than mk2.

If the Mazda is the current favourite would the parent company's Fiesta or Focus also be an option? Lots of choice so you can avoid the inevitable lemon.

My personal choice would be a SEAT Ibiza but I'm biased being a SEAT owner.

Focus.
Lots to choose from, good value, well built. In 1600 form it is quite willing too.

Have a Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 120bhp Very impressed.
I think You can get the 1.6 in the 5 door version but not a "sporty"

Would have look at the "Meta"l option but was a bit to much money for me.

The Mk1 1600 wasn't too bad, though not exactly a ball of fire. The Mk2 with the 1.6 feels very sluggish however.

Has OP considered a Civic?

Take it from a Mazda 6 driver. If she wants a reliable car with no soul then a Mazda is fine.

I've gone from my BMW 525d e60 to the Mazda 6 and I miss the bimmer so much. But I don't miss the repair bills lol.

If you want something fun get the fiesta

Think I would plum for the Focus, Mrs had one and it was reliable, well kitted out, drove well and even had a bit of poke!
