Ka Power steering issues

Daughter has a Ka with power steering

She is complaining about heavy steering so I suggested she called into a local garage for a peek to make sure it is safe to drive.

They said it was probably a stiff U/J but needed to strip it down to be sure............

Just wondered if the legendary LCB knowledge base thinks that they have it right and if so is it a big jobbie?

Cheers

Does it have tight spots possibly every 90 degrees or so as you turn the wheel ? If so it's likely to be the UJ . Not too bad a job IIRC and the part isn't too expensive

I believe it might have tight spots. However the power steering version doesn't have a separate u/j and I think the whole steering column has to be changed

Will b lower coupling at fault, trouble is you have power steering so coupling is part of column

best to strip out soak coulpling in a solevent cleaner take it out tap witha hammmer a few times to free of the rollers. then leave to soak in oil over nite.
last one we did think was quoted just over £300 for new column.
