It allways saddens me when I see old cars among the euroboxes in breakers yards. I was mooching around Bell's at Shildon yesterday, and spotted a
Triumph 2000.. possibly a 2.5PI, a Porsche 944 and a Vauxhall Cavalier.. the first one RWD. Not seen one of those for ages!
All doomed to be crushed at some point no doubt.
When i did car grass track racing i had a mini that was rear wheel drive and i fitted a Triumph 2.5 rear axle
in them days the scrap yards where full of that type of car
As you say sad to see them in scrap yards now
Jacko
Super Mini rear axle triumph 2500
there you go

Sadly the scrapage scheme run by the government in 2009 saw plenty of cars from 60/70's with borderline value of £2000 pile up in the scrappies.

local to me: triumph stag, moggie, triumph herald, consul, capri, 2 x volvo amazon. At least they are all being left in the yards for a good while so people can get parts, i got 2 sets of bumpers, a dashboard, rare front seats and loads of little bits for my amazon this week. Tis a shame but they help others live on.
