corrado vr6 - 30/7/12 at 10:59 PM

Hi there i have a jago geep but no engine, now someone suggested i put a zetec engine in for reliabilty as apposed to the escort engine thats currently sat on the back seats as its not fitted yet, so my question is what zetec year/size cc would fit or would it be a case of none of them would and engine brackets need to be modified? i can weld so not an issue but would like to know what to look out for that would be best? Many Thanks Greg

The escort engine should be ok, so long as its looked after.

I sold a 2.0 to some one to put in one. Would be great with the standard fuel injection set up.

If you have a look over on the Jago forum Ed has done a zetec conversion on his. Not easy mind you as induction side is tight up against the steering shaft.

Putting a V8 in mine BTW

As someone who is part way through fitting one, dont bother!

The OE inlet (any of them) wont go, at all.

I've seen one done with bike carbs and one done with a hot rod manifold off ebay and a downdraught as above, but IMO if youre going to fit a dirty old carb, you're missing the whole point of a modern fuel injected engine.

Im building a new plenum for mine, but it would have been far easier to fit a fuel injected pinto, or a 1600 vauxhall 8v, or any mordernish narrow engine instead. The strut towers are just too wide at 80mm inside the spring cups.
