I need a bit more grunt, on the 2.0 Tdci 140 mondeo, as i have, bought a bigger caravan!
what are my options to getting more power,
are there any drawbacks
what about mot time
anything else that i should be asking?

Bluefin have some good ford ecu tuning units, which deliver more power and claim they also deliver better MPG.
The unit saves the standard tune, which can be put back onto the car when needed.

Back in the day my parents took me caravanning in the alps. They drove all over the place towing the van with a diesel 2.3D Sierra which had if my
memory serves 67BHP. They even went over the St-Bernards pass with it. I am sure 140BHP will be okay
I do agree, but when one buys a new BIGGER van, that means going from a small 2 berth 845kg van to a large 4 berth 1200kg van, that has more cupboard
space than a new build house
Means Wifey will have to fill every cupboard with crap,
so i will be up in the 1600kgs bracket, almost double the old van!

Do what all the caravanners seem to do. Buy a KIA or Hyundai 4 wheel drive.......
But how big/heavy is the van?? 140 should tug most things along. But if you want it chipped you may get a bit more torque (which is what you need for
towing)
EDIT we used to tow a 850kg van with an astra (non-turbo) diesel, all 57bhp. Bit slow....
The citroen 1.9TD with 90bhp flew along with a van that was 900kg plus stuff in it. More to do with aerodynamics once going.....

Had a bluefin on a previous tintop. Very good bit of kit, easy to do yourself and you can put back to standard as an when you like. Also comes in handy as its a fault code reader too.
You might find the weakest link is the clutch and dual mass flywheel. Both of which won't last very long if frequent van holidays are had!
Upping the power and torque only puts more stress on something's that bloody expensive to replace 
I used the DTUK tuning box on my old 530D BMW E39 - a superb piece of kit, gave me about 45bhp more but more importantly about 90lbft of torque, AND I got about 6-8 mpg more as well, so I would recommend them for sure. Had it on the car for a couple of years with no problems whatsoever.
Diesel tuning - Bigger intercooler and throw away the ERG Valve and then DE-DFP filter it as part of the DE-DFP filter get a Tune down.
