right guys,
I have a small budget of about £3500 max. Need to get swmbo a newer car. She does very little mileage so petrol engine will be the first choice. Cheap
to tax and insure, need 5 doors and above all a make that is known for reliability.
We have seen a 54 plate golf 1.4fsi with full history and low miles, but I have not had any experience with VW for a while. Any good?? Anything else
that I should consider??
Really need to get looking soon so any advice welcome!!
Thanks
Andy

So can anyone else recommend anything or what kind of price a golf like
THIS should be actually worth??
Parkers guide shows independant dealer at £3370

forget parkers, its glasses guide that most garages use (parkers part-ex values might be nearer the truth...)
Just want to add, I know there has been alot of talk in the past about vehicle condition vs mileage, I want to get as low mileage as possible, as last
time I got a high mileage car with history it turned out to be the biggest hunk of junk money pit piece of shite crap toss pot that I have ever had
the mis fortune to own. Still got it, but thats besides the point!!
So im after a low mileage decent quality, 5 door. Suggestions below please....

I hope you are not going to pay £3500 for a 54 plate Golf no matter how low the miles and how well looked after, Golfs are very good cars and they do sell for a premium price over the rest of the grey porridge but even if the car is in truly exceptional condition keep in mind it is still a 9 year old eurobox.
The like the housing market 2nd car market is a buyers market just now and unlike houses cars always depreciate you will see a lot of cars advertised at silly high prices but how many cars are selling at anywhere near the advertised price.
