A Roll Cage To Be Proud Of
Furyous - 5/2/13 at 09:46 PM

I've just seen this roll cage that someone had installed in their car.

They paid $1,000 for this wreck. Obviously, it's being disputed with the people that did the work.

Erm... Shocking
No, truly Shocking
Bloody Hell that Shocking

Slimy38 - 6/2/13 at 08:18 AM

Seriously? Didn't the guy stand back and think 'I can't send it out like that'? I'd be ashamed to send stuff back to the customer like that, even if I didn't charge them for it.

johnemms - 6/2/13 at 08:35 AM

A bit of filler & spot of paint - pass IVA with that mate lol ..

roadrunner - 6/2/13 at 10:17 AM

I'm as fresh as you can get to be a welder. But even my welding doesn't look no way near that crap.

we had to do a little welding at uni (just to get some hands on experience)
my first day with an old stick welder produced some better welds tha that (and my welding is truly awful)

bi22le - 6/2/13 at 02:21 PM

all joking to one side we could use the pics as educational

am some one list the problems with this welding. i can see it has splatter and little holes in it but why or hole does this happen?

you can also see there has been some investigetive grinding so how did they know ot was poor?

i would like to learn how to weld and point out bad welds and why / how would help.

cheers.

motorcycle_mayhem - 6/2/13 at 04:31 PM

Interesting... some small bits look OK....

The rest have a whole shed of visible problems: lack of gas, lack of wire, lack of power... some individual contributors, some all three. Shocking, and more shocking that this was a 'professional' job.. or that my own standards are simply too high!!!

I have to agree, that all of the mess in the piccys, could so easily be tarted up with some p38, and some pretty satin black paint, and the job would look a real pro job

Which in its self is incredibly worrying for any one who has had any work done by these clowns in the past

cliftyhanger - 6/2/13 at 05:19 PM

The biggest shame is that the actual tubing seems to be well shaped and cut.
Really is just the welding.
guess that is what happens when you get the teaboy to fill in for the normal welder.

jacko - 6/2/13 at 07:03 PM

Looks like pub gas has been used

black fingernail - 6/2/13 at 08:11 PM

My wife and two daughters can weld better than that!!
It's things like that that makes one think the IVA test is'nt such a bad idea after all. In the bad old days some 'kits' were supplied a bit like this, Thus giving kit cars the bad name that has taken a long time to shake off.
