Hi all,
In the continuing search for a newer tiptop for the wife, we have seen a nice Citroen c4 low miles low price, full history, hpi clear and all that. I
have no experience with Citroen so has anyone had one, or have one and can give some advice on what they are like. Or whether to avoid and reasons.
Thanks
Andy

I'd try to keep it like that if I were you!
Horrid to drive and nasty to work on and bound to give you trouble. Maybe OK for old people that don't go anywhere.
Last girlfriend had a C3 so I got rid of her!
Seriously the worst car I have driven in years with the most awful grabby brakes I've ever encountered, it needed the ABS just to control the ridiculous brakes. And don't get me started on the handling!
I hate them, can you tell?
Er, the hdi engine is a darn good one?
Never had a citroen but got a peugeot atm..

Thanks for the replies
I think that has answered the question!!
Andy
I had a citroen ZX with the 1.4 75hp engine (1993ish).
Great car. Very soft suspension so could take speed bumps at 30mph. Engine was willing and strong. At 70mph i got 47mpg. Didn't rust. Didn't
break. Didn't fail. Only problem I can remember was a sticking brake caliper.
Oh, and the gearbox broke at 83k miles. Uneconomic repair so i gave it to the garage.
(nb i used to do changes from 1st to 2nd in about 0.2nanoseconds so that may have been part of the reason).
If anyone can be bothered, registration was L530HYH - it may still be going as the garage repaired it and sold it on.
Retired dad has got a C3. Its small, cheap to run and gets them about. He's not had any problems in 7 or 8 years of ownership doing 3 or 4k miles
a year.
The common factor between my dads and my car - very very base spec. As little on them as possible so as little to fail as possible.

I got a 03 Berlingo 2.0hdi a few months ago and it's no problem. The brakes are sound and it handles fine plus it doubles as a van and pulls my trailer well. Friend had a diesel C2 for 5 years and the only thing to fail was the injector washers, common fault and he kicked himself for getting rid of it for an Audi TT.
