Kia Carens 2008 Diesel
Any owners or comments/reviews/info about these??
They look ridiculous value for a practical vehicle...............
The old model is best described as a tiny bit uninspiring but very very good Kia warranty should transfer with ownership. I would choose one over the Vauxhall product any day. Be aware like most modern diesels it has a DPF so an Italian tune up at least once a month is a good idea.
It's rather the manufacturer rather than the vehicle, but I've just come back from a three day hire with a Kia Cee'd. Apart from the
slightly gutless engine (low spec 1.6 TD) the car itself was spot on. I can see why they can justify such a warranty.
If the Carens has the same sort of 'feel' to it, I would definitely recommend a look.
I can only compare the contents of the Carens gearbox to a recycled coke can. It was a horrible horrible car to drive. So glad we didn't buy
one.
Guess it depends on what you want it for, but I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole.
The thing about Kia is that they have come on by leaps and bounds since Hyundai took over there sales are growing world wide by 8% a year.
The Carens has had 3 generations the first wasn't great, the 2006 to 2012 was a very good car but just plain and bland, the 2013 is as at
least as good if not better than anything else in it its market sector.
If you trawl problems reported on the internet for Kia and Hyundai (combined 6% market share growing) and compare with Renault (3.5% falling) ,
Fiat (2% falling ) and Vauxhall (13% falling) you get a pretty good idea of relative reliability.
Trawling the web the only common thread I can see in any report problems is that some of their dealer network aren't up to the job.
I've just bought the wife a very similar car to that which is the ford CMAX, second hand for £3400 with just 30k on the clock, can't fault anything about the car as its just a joy to use, a real eye opener for me as I got sick of crappy fords years ago. The 2ltr Tdi is an utterly ballistic engine to, probably too quick for me to behave myself tbh. Was not even a car I was considering but just vastly better than the alternatives I saw. have a look around at the alternatives as there as quite a few
