Fill out the bit on the actual lisense and it's free

Do you have a photocard driving license, that has run out of date? Those cost.

Otherwise change of address is free when you send back your old one.

Have you clicked a "replacement license" box anywhere? That costs, but isn't what you want - that's for lost license replacement.

Fees listed here https://www.gov.uk/driving-licence-fees

If you send the old one (photocard licience) back for any reason, make sure you have a photcopy of it, in case they lose your groups

Hi

Had to send mine back last week for change of address and medical update. They sent it back due to the original picture being more than 10 years old.
However it was FOC except for the stamps to send it twice.

Cheers Matt

If you have the old paper licence and then move house, is it still free to change the address, from what I read on the .gov website they will charge me for a photo one , I dont want to be forced to pay for a photo one I paid for this paper one already , just the change of address on a still valid paper one. Seems yet again this is yet another stealth tax for the motorist as the photo needs updating every 10 years as well.

Having had to pay again for my second photo licence I can totally agree with you! I had to do a change of address when they first came out so I've already had one expire. Unfortunately you've only got another couple of years before the paper ones expire.

Photo cards expiring every ten years makes sense to me, although it's still a bit pricey for what it is. How many people have looked at a ten year old photo and thought 'wasn't I slim back then'...

Heh, I had a beard on my last one. One company I worked for called me to ask why I looked nothing like I did on my licence
