Help with radio.

The Radio in my car needs the code which I haven't got. I googled how to get the code and found a website that can tell me it if I have the serial number on the side of the radio. I got some of the fork things to pull out the radio but I think the things you press with them have broken off, I've never done this before but they've moved backwards and the radio itself doesn't seem to want to move.

What I want is either another way to get the code, or to get the radio out. I'd quite like a DAB so if I've got to destroy the radio to get it out, so be it, the screen is broken anyway. Any sugeestions?

Whilst trying to avoid scratching your dash, just stick them in there and give it a wiggle about!

What sort of car?
Which model Radio?

A picture might help.

My Mondeo was a pig, all done by feel, and the special tool was a must have.

Buy your new one from halfords and get them to struggle with it :-)

A bit of an update. I had a look on youtube and realised there where some hex bolts in the way so I went out and took them out of the way and tried again, the keys now go in a decent way and I can hear all kinds of clicks but can't seem to shift it, but It might just be a case of shaking it about now as it feels like it's moving forward slightly.

It's a Delco CDR500 in a N reg Vectra 2.5 CDX just incase anyone has any specific tips, but from the sound of the replies so far, its just a bugger to do. If I don't get it sorted by friday I'll be going to halfords and buying a new one. I was going to wait till next month but I can afford to get one now.

on a related note, the arial doesn't seem to fit the screw whole, I'm going to test with some nuts and bolts but I think the whole is about 5mm and the arial almost six (Couldn't find my measuring tools, I've got a Micrometer and a Vernier Caliper that I've never actually used), the arial has a cut across the diameter on the bottom of the screw, if I squeeze it with pliers to close this gap is it likely to fit in the hole? Otherwise I was going to find a bolt that will fit the hole and anut that fits the arial and glue them together.

Thanks for the tips, I found my uncle and asked him to help and he basically did what you guys said, rammed them in and shook it.

Thanks for the tips
