v8 manifold gasket paste?
tegwin - 8/7/13 at 11:36 AM

I have ordered a new set of metal competition exhaust manifold gaskets for the v8 in the TVR and some new bolts and washers.

Are manifold gaskets installed "dry" or should I purchase some sort of gasket jointing compound? If so which one?

Dry and to recomended torque
Check manifold faces are flat

Agreed you need nothing between the gaskets

Ideal thanks..

There is not a hope in all of hell that I am going to get a torque wrench anywhere near the manifold nuts... As it is I have had to chop a spanner in half and dislocate my wrist to get at the bolts...

What sort of torque figure is suitable? Something around 40nm?

Did you know, 3 out of a pack of 4 Pinto exhaust manifold gaskets fit the Rover exhaust manifold.

I feel your pain

That actually looks accesible compared to the TVR... I can only get at 1 bolt with a regular spanner...1 flat at a time.. lord knows how I will get the other beggars out!
