I know the comment said NA, but the article doesn't? Is it definitely NA?

"A newly-engineered, two-litre supercharged Ford Duratec engine pumps out 310bhp, providing even more of a kick in the back for the driver and propelling the Seven 620 R from 0-60mph in under 2.8 seconds."

( from Cateringvan "Life"... )

jeffw - 9/7/13 at 10:02 AM

Torque seems too low for forced induction. My supercharged 2lt Zetec is over 260 ft lbs

Aha, that's more like it!

Agriv8 - 9/7/13 at 11:39 AM

Erm confused mirrors on the Side screens seems a strange one ( spotted when looking at the Dash shot ! ).

Like the coulour Scheme !! and I bet I would not fit in one !!!

£50k!!!!

There are so many cars that I would spend 50k on before a Caterham.

jeffw - 9/7/13 at 12:45 PM

311BHP & 220 ft lb doesn't seem a lot for a Supercharged 2lt Duratec.

Yep they are all like that when you have side screens...

Nice car, expensive as ever...

My thoughts too!

DIY Si - 9/7/13 at 03:00 PM

And I see they've binned the IRS the old R500 had......

scootz - 9/7/13 at 03:03 PM

The R500 never had IRS... only the mega-bucks CSR260 had it (and many complained it was't as good as the de-dion on the rest of the range).

Dave Bailey - 9/7/13 at 03:53 PM

I didn't think quick release steering wheels were road legal... So 50k and you can't drive it on the road....

scootz - 9/7/13 at 04:16 PM

I seen cars with them fitted passing SVA.

And to be fair, Caterham have been in this game long enough to know what satisfies the legal requirements and what doesn't.

Yes they are I know plenty that have passed IVA and have them fitted.

tomgregory2000 - 9/7/13 at 05:37 PM

That's not much power, I had more hp and torque from my Nissan turbo engine(cost a lot less the 50k,that's for sure), I think they have lost the plot a bit

theduck - 9/7/13 at 06:03 PM

You could ALMOST justify the price of te old r500 because of the cost of the building low volumes of such a highly engineered high performance engine. Seeing as this is a cheaper to build engine, as admitted by caterh when fitting it the new r600 race car, surely the price should have dropped?

Grimsdale - 12/7/13 at 07:35 AM

a gunmetal chassis? Methinks not. Not a very accurate article.

theduck - 12/7/13 at 07:46 AM

I assumed gun metal referred to the colour rather than material.

Agreed, gunmetal is a colour.

And a metal too. It's a copper alloy.
Of course I agree with the concensus that they mean the colour of gunmetal
