An intriguing idea!

Just found this via Gizmag

It looks like he's printing off panels and applying them to a framework to prepare a buck for a fibreglass body. Whilst it doesn't quite have the "Holy ****!" of Fred W B's CANAMSA project, it's still mighty impressive- and will still take plenty of elbow grease to complete!

Cool.

If only a printer was so big you could print in 1 go....

Download a cad file print it n sit in on a mx5 chassis :-)

Man that is is a lot of 3d printing, 100 of 10 for effort but looks like an epic project like tiling the space shuttle

First time I've seen a full size car being done, one day this will be common place when the printers get big enough, I see that Boeing have been looking already at printing airliners

Having used 3D printing at work, I can honestly say it is probably THE coolest, wide reaching and potentially disruptive technology I have ever seen.
One of the gents at work was telling me about how he saw a cylinder head 3D printed from steel... pretty awesome! And this is just the start...

Much easier if you go for CNC milling out the buck from a solid block (but building the machine would be a major undertaking for the home.
