info, believe it will have a transponder on column/key, believe key will come off fob, looks like screwed into it, anyone have any helpful advise lol,

andy
hi,
you guys are quick,
thanks
andy
Quick search found this http://www.carkeyhelp.co.uk/products/Peugeot-806-transponder-key-SX9T.html
Not too sure if it helps or not though ?
Silver solder it back together. Be cautious so as not to melt the transponder!
Ive used them before they are quite good, they can cut a key from a photo of the original and also supply the key code too, or if you have the key
code you can just give them that to cut one from.
Cheapest option might be to get a none transponder key cut and then keep the transponder fob on the keyring with the new key, as long as the new key
doesnt have a transponder in it the car will pickup the old one.
THe other option is getting a transponder one cut and getting it programmed, but not sure how easy that is an a peugeot, some cars you can easily
program one if you have a working existing one, others need a programming tool so its a dealer or auto locksmith job.
Timpsons Shoe and Key place can clone most keys but it varies from car model, not sure how easy it would be for them to cut a new one from a broken
one though.

Hi all,
Thanks 4 the advise and info, great help, looks like new key cut if possible, leave old key fob on keyring for now,
look into long term fix, does anyone know what the transponder looks like, can I move it to new key, could I buy new key with transponder from web
site as suggested, how can I reprogram it (think that's the right wording).
thanks
andy
The transponder is usually a little glass like capsule, not unlike a gel capsule you would get medication in but smaller.,

If you can remove it there will be a little tab on the key to pop out and it will be behind it, its usually right next to the metal bit of the key.
Otherwise it's sealed inside the plastic of the key base and it would be hard to remove it without breaking as you will need to smash up the
plastic to get it out.
I just get a new key cut then keep the old key on the same key ring then the transponder still works,
Did the same on my old mondeo n just used got a key cut from the broken bit n kept them together n it started ok....
hi all,
got new key cut tonight, turns on ignition etc, car will not start, I have old key on ring as suggested, tried couple off times, no joy, any ideas
guys and galls.
thanks
andy
Did the new key you have cut come with a built in transponder, if it did then it will be interfering with the signal, if not then you may need to try holding the old key base closer to the steering cowl and try a couple of different spots.
