New tyres already

My pug has gone through its front tyres in about 16k miles (I was surprised since the rears are still on 6mm!)

So I'm now looking around, and although I can't find it I'm sure someone (or some thread) on here slagged off one particular make. So has anyone used Hankook? These in particular? I'm after them lasting a bit longer than the Barum they're replacing

Before you do anything, have your alignment checked. You can do it with string and a plumbline, or a laser, or a myriad of other locost ways.

I had a 7 series that went through 4mm of tyre in <1000 miles on the front due to too much toe in. Alignment sorted in about 30 minutes using a Dunlop gauge borrowed from a mate at work, and transformed the car and tyre life.

16k isn't bad on the drive wheels. If you drive very slowly then maybe 20k at a push.

The mrs has a 1.2 fiesta n that does 19k miles Barum tyres....

I've used hankook tyres but have not used the ones you listed. The others were rubbish in the wet but these maybe better given they say they are.

How do you drive the pug?

My 525 bummer fronts did 22k n the rear 10k if lucky but I was a litre heavy on the pedal back in these days....

It has been done recently, about a month ago. I'm putting it down to a heavy 2 litre engine and a heavy driver. I'm also persuming the reason the rears aren't worn is due to lack of weight on the back. But yeah I'll get that checked again when I get them changed.

How I drive it? Most often about 55-60 on the motorway

It is more to do with the fact the rears tyres do nothing very much. All the power, steering and most braking happens on the fronts.
Agreed that 16K is good on a fwd car. rears often seem to be good for 60K or more. And although I think the practice is no longer recommended, I am a fan of putting the rears onto the front, just so that none of the tyres get too old. new tyres then fitted on the back.

Our citroen xantia used to do 12k exactly on a pair of fronts. so it was an annual pair of tyres with that car. Current Zafira is better, but not by a lot.

When I last looked (within the last 6 months) it was not only recommended, but some places insisted that you do that - the theory being, I think, that you want the most tread on the back, because being light, you want the tread to get water away well or the back end can overtake you!

I've got so far 40,000 miles out of a set of front Michelin on a diesel vectra, I think its good to rotate front rear tyres as rears generally end up perishing rather than ever wearing out

It seems ok mileage then if your a steady driver.

Stick with them tyres if are ok in the wet but I know they are not that cheap
