Seat bolster Stitching

I've noticed the stitching on my seat bolsters is fraying which can't be good, anyone got any tips to stop it getting any worse, already switched to a slide and scootch out of the car now to avoid contact with the bolsters (which are fine it's purely the stitching).

What are the seats made of? If theyre leather you can gaffertape them to stop them getting worse.

Best solution is probably to take the seat apart and remove the damaged stitching and replace with new, but obviously thats alot of work, and pricey if you have to get someone else to do it.

They are vinyl, I'm too poor for leather, don't fancy the gaffer tape though, sounds like that would ruin the look of the seats. I was searching on-line for answers and I see some people say to rub the stitching g with a clear hard bees wax stick to preserve them which sounds like it might work.

Just a idea what about clear nail varnish painted on the stitching

That might work, need a steady hand and use sparingly though, good idea thanks.
