I have a mondeo tdci 2.0 on an 02 plate. It started cutting out without any warning lights coming up on the dash once a day at the same spot for a few weeks now it cuts out every 5 mins.Ive recently had a service and ive changed the cam sensor but stilll continues to stall. Can anyone please advise what to do next, could it be the crank sensor? many thanks P
Where do you buy your fuel from ? My father was suffering exactly the same trouble with his Focus TDCi and had it on loads of different diagnostic
machines, including the local Main Stealer, with all sorts of different diagnosis / prognosis.
A friend and I told him to stop hunting around the supermarkets to save a penny a litre and to use one of the big Fuel Companies sites.
With-in a week all the problems cleared up and to top it all, he has increased his mileage by 5mpg!
Regards
Jon
I get my fuel from either sainsburys, total or bp however the stalling is becoming more frequent. Thanks for the reply and advise Jon

How many miles has it done?
Mondeo a are known for fuel pump failure, injector failure, power steering pump failure, DMF and starter motor
I know I've had them all
When was the last time you cleaned out EGR and inlet manifold?
Have you read OBD
On most engines stalling at idle or when moving off is often symptom of the crank position sensor or the associated wiring failing, it generally
won't throw up a P code
On a older Mondeo TDCi wouldn't be surprise if the business end of sensor is covered in swarf from the DMF.
My money would be on injector failiure. The Ford TDCi lumps are well known for it. Two TDCi Focus's I've driven recently had to have all of their injectors replaced. Symptoms start with hesitancy or 'missing' when the engine is under load to almost total loss of power and cutting out (not nice on the outside lane of the A34....)
Ive just noticed a small split in my intercooler to EGR boost pipe could this cause my problem

Yes a split pipe could be causing it.
DMF is Dual Mass Flywheel
OBD is On Board Diagnosis
