Looks dodgy to me...
Xtreme Kermit - 19/11/13 at 06:40 PM

Does this one look dodgy to you?

eBay Item

morcus - 19/11/13 at 06:48 PM

He does say it's correctly registered with the engine and that the work has been done by MK, but it doesn't look much like a dutton to me...

On a side note, why must the buyer buy in person with two forms of ID? I'm only on my 4th car but only once did anyone even check I could drive before letting me have the car (And that was only for finance).

jossey - 19/11/13 at 06:50 PM

Ye I'm sure this one has been spoke about before.

I'm surprised mk would touch a dutton though? Unless it's not a dutton but an mk with a reg from a dutton.

Mmmmmm

rgrs - 19/11/13 at 06:51 PM

Yep, as well as the fact that on it's reg it's meant to have a 1700cc engine !

whitestu - 19/11/13 at 06:59 PM

Definitely a ringer - that's no more a Dutton than mine is!

jacko - 19/11/13 at 07:00 PM

Askmid says its a MK Indy fireblade

owelly - 19/11/13 at 07:04 PM

ASKMID will list it as whatever the insurance broker has told them. What does DVLA say?

Andy S - 19/11/13 at 07:23 PM

slingshot2000 - 19/11/13 at 07:51 PM

Has anyone reported it yet?

Marcus - 19/11/13 at 07:53 PM

MK Locost
MK Locost

Thought I recognised the number plate (sad I know!)
That was the first MK Locost demonstrator back in 2001 I think, built by Martin Keenan. I think it had a crossflow originally then converted to a bike engine very early on in its life.

I'm sure a few might know the original paint job

Edited to add, it's clearly not the same car! Something definitely dodgy...

slingshot2000 - 19/11/13 at 07:58 PM

I would be very surprised if Martin had registered his demo on a Dutton plate, but stand to be corrected.

I have reported it to ebay;

1) Prohibited and restricted items
2)Vehicle and vehicle parts and accessories
3) Other vehicle-related concerns
(this resulted in a flashing info box informing me; [I] The listing has other vehicle-related concerns.

Going by that, date of first registration is in 1973, even if it was built pre sva wouldnt its registration date be in the 90's?

Could just be one of the ones that slipped through the net pre SVA, but I'd guess that if someone reported it to the DVLA the reg would be revoked now the amnesty for incorrect reigstrations has passed which I believe happened to someone with a Porsche 911 replica that they tried to change the details from VW to porsche and they revoked the registration for the car.

Andy S - 20/11/13 at 07:18 AM

It's just a ringer pure and simple. The car is on the road using the identity and details from another vehicle. I would take a bet that there is not one part from the original Ford Dutton on that car.

So MK's first car was a ringer?

I dont believe it.

Mr Whippy - 20/11/13 at 01:07 PM

looks like it

slingshot2000 - 20/11/13 at 04:52 PM

Looks like a ringer ?
Smells like a ringer ?
Tastes like a ringer ?
Look like an MK, but registered (a long time before MK existed) as a Dutton ?

I am glad I didn't stand in it, as it is a pile of poooo !

(Also, there could be an MK owner out there looking for his stolen Mk, but it is on eBay for sale as a Dutton !).

I have reported it to eBay again and I have asked friends to, has anyone else ?
