Hi guys
We have a Xsara phase 2 HDI which we brough a month ago,
issues wit it have occured today
whilst driving along at 50mph the the radio went off the clock on the MFD went off and abs light the airbag warning light the passsangers air bag
light and the stop light and (!) lights all came on, she pullled over and called me i told her to drive on, then they turned off, she then stopped for
an hour on returning to the car she restarted it and all the lights came on again the rev counter came on as the car cranjed and went off once
running then didnt work and on pulling off the speedo wasnt working either. i am stuck here guys any ideas?
It is either going to be a can bus error or connector or earth issue or water ingress.
Usually with can bus faults switching off usually cures it on restart but try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting.
Water ingress to one of the ECUs or its connector is quite a common issue in this case it looks like the body control computer or its connector or
the earth point or its power feed.
Can of worms, wiring faults are the hardest to solve.
Have you got an OBD scanner? Mine has helped me no end!
Check earths in car a post area and under bonnet area ....
Daughters Citroen C4 did similar during the first cold snap this winter, I put it down to condensation in the connectors, I cleaned as many as I could
get to without major strip down, and the faults seemed to go away, I used contact cleaning spray I used to use in vintage Jukebox relays.
But, as Coozer says so difficult to find the real cause and be sure its fixed, plus the fault codes indicated the ecu was suspect, she did the
sensible thing and traded it in, she needs it for work and couldn't risk it failing.

Cured it, corrosion in the ecu plug lil electrical terminal cleaner and blow out with air line and all is good
