Been offered a fully operational 2002 Corsa fitted with a 1.8 sri engine for £500.
Thought it would be a base for a half decent track car, or am I missing something ?
Should be a fun little car to throw around on the track, especially for £500. Rip out anything that isn't required to make it light as possible. Are they the 140bhp VVT engine like in the astra, or the earlier non VVT around 120bhp model?
1.8 baby valvers arent epecially quick, (120ish bhp) quite expensive to tax (early ones are £260), corsa chassis is hardly considered dynamic.
Whilst its a good price, there would certainly be better options out there.

Google Corsa V6 or pick up any issue of Performance vauxhall.
Someone I used to work with had one and that really was a hoot though not exactly very good at steering as he found to his cost.
Im currently looking at track cars as the father in law wants a small simple project. The budget is likely to be about £1k, giving us a little spare
after that for things like brakes and tyres.
I have a Clio 172 seems to be hold which was the obvious choice but without really scraping the bottom of the barrel its hard to find one for under
£1200.
