Specialist kit car repairers?
carpmart - 8/6/14 at 09:28 AM

Anyone know anyone who could be recommended to repair accident damage on a kit car please? Someone who the insurers would be happy to deal with?

Thanks

The obvious answer is the kit manufacturer (assuming they are still running and have the abilty to do fully built kits). If you are with a specialist insurance company then give them a call to discuss what they will accept and work from there, just be careful of the 50% ish right off rule when looking at repair costs.

There are also kitbuild companies advertising in the mags, the longer running ones may be able to help.

Sorry not much help but it is a start.

As above, I used the kit manufacturer when I bent mine. I think a few places like Procomp and Track Developments may also do repairs, depending on the level of damage.

If it is sufficiently damaged could you not push your insurer for a like-for-like replacement chassis and then rebuild yourself in order to keep below the write off value?

Any of the kit manufacturers.
I've seen all of them working on other manufacturer kits so pick your favorite and give them a call.

Tiger Racing will take on most 7 type cars for build or repair.

Not an answer to your question, but:
If you speak to the loss adjuster, he/she will be able to tell you what they want. Many will come to an agreement where they'll settle on a price and it's up to the policy holder where they take the car to be fixed, or they can pocket the money and fix the car themselves. You just need to get a couple of quotes so you know you're not getting ripped-off by the loss-adjuster!!

Dudley is very good. He built my Libra then rebuilt it twice after accidents. I only crashed it once though
