Greetings Kit Car collective,
I recently purchased a STM Phoenix, circa 2006 with a tubular chassis - Roll bar no full roll cage. Started as a project but never completed,
it's running a ZX10r engine which is installed but not run up. Most of the bits are there of finish but my god there's a LONG way to go !
Having assessed ground clearance i've abandoned the thought of it being a road car (not to mention the hassle of an IVA) so here I am, no build
manual, no photos of one in build that I can find on the net and the kit has changed hands and been re engineered more times than Del Trotters market
stall !
Does anyone on here have any photos or better still own one of these? I'd really appreciate some pic's and also a good poke around your car
:-)
Video of the *cough project is here: http://youtu.be/CtjgRIWQkxI
Thanks in advance .... Tom.
I have a STM Phoenix. I don't know where you're based but you are welcome to come and have a nosey or if you let me know what pics you want I'll get snapping. I didn't build mine so can't show you any build photos.
I'd give Tim Gray Motorsport a bell.
One thing for sure is that once it's complete and set up correctly, your little track car will be very very quick indeed! You just need to look
at there previous race results in RGB to see that!
The STM variants are still sought after so if all else fails I'm sure you'd get good money for it
Aires Motorsport took over the Stuart Taylor project, give Steve a ring on 0115-932-3489.
Hi Tom. I have a 2005 Phoenix. Three years in the making, on and off by myself and co-builder, Eldon.
Lots of one-off CNC bits. Lots of titanium and carbon. Plenty of pics in my photo archive.
Where are you? Your welcome to view the car anytime.
The car has Tim Gray's old bodywork. Tim was very helpful and gave us a lot of advice re. suspension set up, etc.
I'll help any way I can.
Aries Motorsport only took the Locost from STM, not the Phoenix.

Welcome to LCB.
You could also post on the JPSC Forum. Plenty of Phoenix owners there (though a lot frequent both sites).
ps... Would have been a good post for the new JP section.
Ahh, this was the one I bid on on Ebay. Welcome...
Welcome
There are more about than you think!
Mines a 2005 STM Square tube chassis with R1 motor. Plenty of ground clearance too

What is interesting is the differences with the Orange chassis above. The black one has many areas that seemed to be very different.
Hi again. The orange chassis ( mine ) has added triangulation in the floor and added strengthening around the back end. Tim (Gray) broke the wishbone mounts off his and advised on the extra tubes.
Have you looked at the walk round video of the black chassis....very different to yours.
The black chassis is the next generation from mine with fabricated wishbone mounting bulkheads.
I think these chassis were produced by Caged.
As you say, very different.
My car has fabricated front uprights too.

I did wonder how much stiffer/lighter those boxed sections front and back would be. The Orange one looks like a round tube version of mine whereas the black one doesn't look anything like mine.
