Soapbox Racing - LCB member who organised stuff?
Norfolkluegojnr - 20/10/14 at 01:54 PM

I've been asked to have a hand in organising a soapbox racing event - charity type thing, for PR mainly, but with a donation element to raise a few quid.

i'm sure there was someone on here who used to organise these events, and I'd love to pick their brain.

Anyone offer any advice? I'm literally starting with zero information, so anything will help!

I've taken part in our local one a few times, but not involved in the organisation. From what I can see you need timing gear, lots of marshals/timekeepers/admin people and a St John Ambulance.

Owelly on here might be involved in the PPC magazine event and have more info

Thanks Nick.

Its also the insurance, and location side of things i'll need some help on.

We were wondering if we might be able to 'piggyback' someone else's event - we can bring a decent number of participants, and some charity fundraising etc and throw in some cash/man power to help run it, but tracking down regular events seems difficult....

We're in Norfolk so as you can imagine, nothing local!!

From my memory Norfolk is pretty flat, so building a big enough helta skelta slope, will coss ££££££££

Here are a couple of websites to look at I have entered five or six events but not had anything to do with organising although I may do next year.

This is the one I think I will be helping out with next year.

Think they all have facebook pages too.

Thanks All.

Applesport link doesnt work, but the Forum is a great place to start.

If the plan goes anywhere (big if!) I'll let you all know so you can come along, take pictures and laugh as I crash into a tree.
