Problem with Mazda 6 Clutch - Any Suggestions?
John P - 15/12/14 at 10:40 PM

My everyday car is an 07 reg Mazda 6 (2.0 Litre Petrol).

Today I pressed the clutch pedal down when coming to a halt and although there was no problem engaging neutral when I took my foot off the pedal it only returned about 1/3 of the normal distance.

I hooked the pedal up with my toe and it then performed normally but has since done the same once more.

It's a hydraulic clutch and I did check the fluid level which looks fine. Not been underneath but there are no obvious leaks visible from under the bonnet and at the moment seems to be working fine.

Any suggestions?

John.

Our work vans have awful clutches that keep going and cost a fortune to fix (vauxhall vivaro, renault traffic)

With them its the seals that go inside the master cylinder. When they go they just dont engage so slightly different to your issue.

If it hydraulic and there are no leaks then it can only be seals, surly?

Have you tried googling else where? I recon this has been documented

Usually a sign of a master cylinder on it's way out.
