Honda S2000
Its on the list, just trying to persuade the missus.
An quick search on Pistonheads with given parameters
-Chrysler Crossfire
-Mazda MX5
-Mazda Rx8
-Mercedes C/CLK
-Lexus IS
-Toyota MR2
I excluded the Ford Ranger and Transit, but that could be another option.#
And some reason quite a few Saab owners think their cars is RWD.

By excluding BMW you are losing access to some of the best RWD cars out there...
I,m not a fan, however the SWMBO has a 320d, it is a superb car very fast and economic with precise handling.
The idea is to get more seat time in a RWD manual car so it's an easier transition for when jumping in the race car. Having a auto 4wd diesel
barge daily is all well and good but when you jump into a 700kg 200bhp RWD loony race car it takes a few laps to get your head in the game
All the BMWs will be big 4 seaters apart from the Z3/Z4 and have to exclude them as a friend has one (missus' stipulation... we can't have
one of those because such-and-such have one)

And that's off the list too
We've got 2 race cars based on the MX5 in the garage and had a Mk3 the same time last year so fancied something a bit different. It'd be
like going back to an old girlfriend!
Just buy a spitfire and run it for the summer. Buy a good one and it will be fine as a daily and you won't lose anything, possibly even turn a profit
MX5, Mercedes, or how about a classic like an MG or Morris Minor. The first vehicle I drove after passing my test was a Morris Minor pick up , taught me loads about driving RWD cars
The IS300 and RX8 have similiar power to an S2000 and the same drivetrain (diff and 6 speed gearbox) if Im not mistaken.
So you only need to decided if you like a rotary engine, straight six or a 4 pot.
got to be a 350/370z

SLK....... 2.3, supercharged, less than £3k....... No brainer!
Need to learn to control a back end?
Volvo 240 for you my son
my dad had a few volvo 240 estate's, spent many an hour playing in the snow with them
spent a couple of hours digging one out of the back of a snow bank once, when you get it wrong all that weight takes some stopping.
MG TF - get a nice one for under a grand, and use the rest on the project (or if practicality is a issue, use the rest on a Vivaro/Grand Espace etc
)
