Hi all,
Having a little trouble with my PG1 gear box in my Elise, any one got any tips for me as I'm thinking the gear box is going to have to come out.

I've started my own web page and put a post on there.

PG!'s are known to have issues with the clutch arm to the point you can buy new ones with a grease nipple on the end.
Have a look on elise parts for one.
Known problem apparently

Getting the rear clam off, is an easy job as long as you have someone to help lift it off. It make aces so much easier, also you will probably want to
paint the roll bar stays if they have not been done. You can get the clam off gearbox out and all back together in a day with ease. If you drill and
tap the end of the existing clutch arm you can fit a grease knipple I think the guide is on SELOC. If you have an early S1 with the red hose , I would
also recommend replacing the clutch line while you are at it.
I have a copy of the work shop manual if you need it as well
Thanks for the replies.
My car has the braided hose line, as its a late S1.
Humm, hadn't thought of removing the clam. Was just going to drop it out the bottom. I've got it up on ramps today and looking at stripping
it next weekend.
The drilling of the old arm is a good idea, will look at that before buying the modded item.

I have replaced mine without taking the clam off. Not an easy job, I had a ramp and 2 of us on the job, total job took about 7 hours hard work. If I did not have access to a ramp, I would have the clam off, lot more access. Not sure if you have thought about how you will do it , but you can take the nearside complete suspension and drive shaft off all in one piece , just undo the wishbone mounting bolts, and remove the rear spring.
Forgot this bit , you cant drop it out the bottom , you have to take it out the nearside side, that is the difficult bit. Be careful of the GB shaft when you come to put it back. There are some good step by step instructions on the Seloc Wiki.
The clutch actuation lever that passes through the bellhousing seizes. I replaced mine with a Mike Satur one with a grease nipple that solves this
issue.
Its a pain to have to take the box out but it only needs doing once, combine it with a clutch change and you have piece of mind for many years to
come.
Hi all,
Gear box is out. Didn't have too much hassel with it, only bolt that was a pain was the odd 18 mm at the front next to the exhaust.
