Searching for some bits, come across Coparts the online auction for crashed/wrecked motors.

Now, being no stranger to buying cars from the salvage auctions just wondering how the registration to bid and buy works regarding buying A or B motors?

ATM looking for parts only but the price for wrecked motors is much cheaper than buying stripped parts off ebay! The Peterelee depot is just along the road from me.. had a few cars out of the the yard on sales day in the past.

So, if i buy a car thats trashed for next to nought (as it seems they go for nest to nought) am I on a winner?? Buying the car, using the bits I want then selling on the rest of the parts?

Not sure about buying A or B motors but check the fees first.

Copart stick on a few fees depending on hammer price and then put Vat on the total. So cheap might not be so cheap afterwards!

I've bought from another site - Car Transplants - they are national so you have to check where the car actually is, there is also a fee + vat added to your purchase price. Its all in the small print so it needs finding to see what it adds up to. I bought a Mk 2 MX5 that was not a write off but was in good mechanical condition for a total of £360. I've got off it all the bits I want and sold the rest via gumtree and ebay etc for just over £500 so its a winner for me and if I want a new engine or box etc again I'll buy another.
If you buy a Cat D write off you can get the log book easily but if its Cat C you will have to apply for it if you want it, you used to have to pay for an identity check as well but I think that changed last October.
