the beeb have found a way out for their "problem" and suspended Jezza, the prog wont be on on sunday .

Beeb news
[Edited on 10/3/15 by David Jenkins]
Great news, apparently everybody involved in making the show was interviewed during an investigation by BBC management on there views on working with him.
i like the fella, yes he may be a mouthy git but at least he is a laugh, tells it like it is and supports the armed services.
no doubt auny beeb would like to replace the prog with one about yogurt knitting fronted by all manner of pc compliant token yes persons.
no doubt other broadcasters will be knocking on his door at this very moment.
their just making some room in the line up

David
I fear that Jeremy is the same on TV as he is in the office and you just can't abuse people and certainly can't hit them
I don't know if we will hear exactly what happened I suspect not
I think JC does say some very valid things, and has a way of getting away with it, but the most irritating idiot on TG
is Hammond, I detest his whole presence so much ive not watched an episode in a few years
James May, is fine and obviously the sensible one, between Mr non PC, and the village idiot
Bring in Sabine, shes nice!
But that will probably mean Sabine, James May, and the village idiot, so still wont watch it
steve
What, replace the bigot with A WOMAN.
Irony or what
But yep prefer to have a german on there rather than him. Or the mouthy one.

I worked on Topgear many years ago on behalf of nissan met all of the presenters there was only one presenter that completely blanked me I was talking to the director at the time and he came over and started talking to the director his nickname is hamster!!,the other presenters where fine and jezza was the nicest and very chattie, yes he has put his foot in it on many occasions but Topgear wouldn't be Topgear without him I'm afraid to say.
AHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Sorry couldn't help myself there.
I note the fact that people are rejoicing because something other people enjoy is being taken off the air and then claiming they "don't care" . Its very sad that people get pleasure from other peoples pleasure being taken away.
I should add I'm laughing at him brawling with a producer, not his demise. Fact is they can't really sack him, as the show doesn't work without him. He is a buffoon, but the show is usually enjoyable.
I've always enjoyed watching Bungle George and Zippy and it will be a real disappointment not to be able to watch them on Sunday - except repeats on Dave etc that is

He is an idiot sometimes, but top gear would be rubbish and dead in the water without him, simples.
Ian
Its a shame if they don't bring him back but quite honestly the format is a bit dull.. I'd like them to find someone who is actually
intrested in cars and make it a bit different... some new jokes and new dynamics on screen would be refreshing...
Clarkson is a genius and im sure he will bounce back in some spectacular and slightly controversial way!
Top Gear without Clarkson was William bloody woolard and Chris Goffey FFS!! even car fans thought it dull.
jezzas an arse at times, but at least hes not so PC as to be frightened of his shadow.
the Beeb are scared of him as to be honest hes that popular in a famous/infamous way, if he ran for Prime Minister hed probably get in. Theres a bit
of irony in that with him being like he is, the beeb have a number 1 rated show, which they sell to almost every nation on the world with a TV so hes
actually keeping most of the beeb in a job.
oh and if they sack him, he will take the format to Ch5, Sky or wherever and earn enough as a signing fee to buy the BBC and Argentina ;-)
No, bring in Suzi Perry and who cares a bollock about the others!
Clarkson sold the rights to Top Gear to the BBC about a year or so ago so it's not his format to take to other broadcasters anymore.
Top Gear is the biggest revenue earner for the BBC. Regardless of what he has done there is no way they will pass that up. Even if they are that
stupid, I bet the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Sky and a hundred others are already beating his door down.
To be fair I believe he earned £13m in selling the rights to the BBC so he probably doesn't care anyway.
Love it or hate it, the format works and attracts audiences in their millions and for that reason it's not going away.
Cheers, Chris
PS. call me an idiot if you like, but I'm definitely a fan of the show. Ok it's not a serious 'car show', but then Domino's
don't make what the Italians would describe as 'real pizza' but that doesn't stop me ordering them.
Shame the BBC weren't so proactive about the paedophiles and sexual deviants they have knowingly employed in the past.
Top gear won't be the same without him, and I've not always been a fan of him or the program, but I think people/nations etc should relax a
little more, it's not as though he is prejudiced against any particular group/nation, everyone is treated with equal contempt and he freely
admits his own short comings.
The world would be a better place if people could speak their minds and not be afraid of opening their mouth for fear of offending anyone.

SCAR - 11/3/15 at 08:20 AMApparrently several years ago the BBC considered changing the whole Top Gear team to present a more respectable and PC show. The line up was rumoured to be made up of long standing BBC stalwarts Jimmy Saville, Stuart Hall and Frank Bough. There was a new feature "A Star in a reasonable priced Whore" They even got as far as filming the first episode featuring Gary Glitter

Irony - 11/3/15 at 11:33 AMI was once at a comedy festival in New Zealand and this comedian was being badly heckled by a member of the audience. The heckler was being totally awful and saying stuff about the comedians mother etc etc. He deserved to be punched but the comedian ask him if he could do a better job? The heckler said yes and the comedian got him up on stage and sat him on a chair. The comedian told to bloke to 'be funny'. The comedian turned away slightly and before we new it he'd whipped is willy out and wiped it over the hecklers face. He told the heckler that from now on every time he hecklers someone or sees a heckler remember that you some blokes willy on your lips!

I would like to see Clarkson walk away, give the British Broadcasting Cretins the finger and laugh.
He does not need the money and could earn a second fortune with any other broadcaster
The BBC as an institution is broken and has been for many years.
Their arrogance and attitude is maintained by the tax payer.
Protecting known sex cases, massive pay offs and run by the rabid PC brigade
At best a disorganised dictatorship staffed by a higher proportion of disabled, drug and alcohol addicted, homosexual champagne socialists with an agenda to socially re engineer society.
As a top gear presenter he is irreplaceable, he is why people watch.
Having worked for TG some years ago, Clarkson is the most approachable and personable.
Hammond runs off the moment the cameras stop rolling to polish his teeth May is a nice chap but at his best with the public.
Let top gear go, it will cost the BBC a fortune to loose it.
Clarkson will prosper.
Hammond will continue to make rubbish Z grade tv.
May will make the interesting boys own tv stuff.

JacksAvon - 11/3/15 at 12:47 PMAngela Rippon and Tom Coyne were the first presenters.
britishtrident - 11/3/15 at 01:38 PMA long time ago the BBC produced a play by Nigel Kneale called The Year of the Sex Olympics" and it fairly accurately predicted the rise of lowest common denominator trash television. H.L. Menken wrote "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the (American) public".
There are always those that will defend the indefensible, if the BBC had show that featured Bear Baiting or Cock Fighting it would find an audience who would defend it, personally I want the BBC to do what it is in its' mission statement educate, inform, entertain.
The BBC has held on to Top Gear because it is cash cow but in doing so it sold its' soul.

Before someone decks me... I have found Top Gear to be very boring lately, but tens of thousands love it so I can't criticise. I just choose not to watch it.
The simple answer is for the producer concerned to make an official complaint to the police about the alleged assault. If they think it warrants an arrest then I'm sure they will do so, and the Beeb will be vindicated. If they think that there is no case, then the Beeb can shut up and give Clarkson his job back (if he wants it).
The cynic in me wonders whether JC engineered this whole situation so he can get out of the TG contract, and go work somewhere else. Perhaps I am being too cynical...

OK, seems a bit odd to not air shows which are already in the can, but the decision to suspend him... how can this be contentious???
Sure, he brings in a lot of cash for the Beeb, but he has also been a major pain in the arse for them of late. Looks like a case of the tail wagging the dog to me... which, incidentally, is what has happened to the show over the last half dozen years. It's not been the TG show in years - it's the JC Show! They've (we've!?) allowed an ego to evolve. Ignore the incident, or reinstate him just because the public (somehow!) demand it, and the ego will become more and more dangerous!

jeffw - 11/3/15 at 04:19 PMThe reason that the programmes have been pulled is that the "audience/star in the reasonable priced car" is done the Wednesday prior to the weekend transmission so there isn't actually any completed programmes.
As to his suspension, there will be two sides to this, as always.
adithorp - 11/3/15 at 04:47 PMIf he's hit someone then he has to go. If it was a fight they both have to go. I very much doubt there won't be any witnesses. This might be a storm in a tea-cup to some but for the beeb it'sthe straw that broke the camels back.
As for the show I think it's on the wane. Yes, I watch it but I'm usually doing something else at the same time now; Long gone are the days when you couldn'tmiss a second. Same stunts in different cars (who really cares if one supercar drifts better than another), every week, same challenges (dressed up to look different), another star promoting thier latest film/album/book in a boring car (wouldn't "star in a resonably quick car that they're quite likely to spin/crash" be more entertaining), same sittng on a sofa talking b0ll0cks surrounded by crowd (with girls pushed to the front)... There's probably only 10min's in every episode thats fresh. It's been great but I think it's about to start a downward spiral.
I suspect he Beeb know that and might be looking to get out while they're ahead. Sack Clarkson, sell the format to the highest bidder while it still has value, let them re-hire him and deal with whatever trouble he causes next.

This sums it up really, nothing accidently slips out on the show. It's put out there so people talk about it, which is better than not being talked about at all.
A year ago I'd have not given a fig about it as the show was all the same week on week, but I've enjoyed this series a bit more, a chuckle involuntarily escaped a couple of episodes past. Shame. But he has to go if the whole hitting thing is true.
morcus - 11/3/15 at 09:15 PMAs above, this series has been rather entertaining, especially last weeks rally cross event (Which would have been better if he'd had proper spotters but still) and this week was apparently due some Classic car action and it is rather annoying that we may not get to see the pre-recorded segments that as license payers we have paid for. They can't car too much about us actually seeing the show as BBC3 still played Top Gear today so why can't they cut what they have into a show?
If he has had a punch up with someone then yes he needs to go but until that has been determined it would be wrong to pass any sort of judgements but I can't see Top Gear surviving without Clarkson.
The thing is now it will be impossible to have an impartial investigation because of the coverage.
ianhurley20 - 11/3/15 at 09:45 PMYou know - I can't imagine anyone getting hit for no reason - so the food wasn't on the plate when he got there for dinner (sounds like something else but) - I can't imagine a swipe, punch or whatever just for that - but allied with a few choice inappropriate remarks from the alleged victim first - maybe
The main thing is that we do not know what happened, probably never will fully, so judging anyone is not really appropriate
What I do find inappropriate is why BEEB has suspended a large part of my license fee investment in a program not yet viewed and not sorted some incident out first and announced a final ruling afterwards
Obviously I have complete faith in the BEEB decision making process
NOT!
perksy - 11/3/15 at 10:07 PMThink JC has perhaps got a little too big for his boots.
He's pushed the boundaries a few times in the past and yes some of his comments and actions have helped the viewing figures.
BUT that said I think 'familiarity breeds contempt' and he might just think he can get away with just about anything now ?
We don't know what happened as none of us were there. but they have suspended him as a 'neutral act' as its a disciplinary matter now.
We would have been suspended from our jobs, so why not JC ?
To be fair he's a multimillionaire now anyway and will get something else sorted if need be in a heartbeat.
One thing I will add though is sadly a son of a family friend was dying of cancer and one of his last wishes was to meet the Top Gear crew, They were brilliant to him and made it a very special day
theduck - 11/3/15 at 10:36 PMJames May has claimed he was blind drunk at the time of the incident, that has to say something about the situation they were in when incident happened?
02GF74 - 11/3/15 at 11:55 PMSuspension for violent conduct, yes but stopping the other episodes from being broadcast no.

spiderman - 12/3/15 at 03:52 AMI'm not a fan of the program but the important point to remember is it is an "alleged violent conduct" if someone was assaulted then he should have been arrested and charged with assault and if proven should be sacked and prosecuted.
I find it a bit odd that those who have a dislike for him are wishing/calling for him to be removed, after all none of us were there and the information has come from the media so you can make your own judgements as to how much truth is in the reports.
I can't imagine it could of been a serious assault as he doesn't look like he could punch his way out of a wet paper bag.
britishtrident - 12/3/15 at 07:01 AMAccording to reports in the Daily Record there was food provided soup and a cold meat buffet the crew returned to the hotel after the chitchen staff had left but Clarkson demanded a 21oz steak which he eventually got.
Also according to the report Clarkson had been drinking a fair quanity of Rose wine -- that will do wonders for his street cred.

Well the petition is not far off 700,000 now! So someone likes his stuff, me included :-)
BUT to be perfectly fair, that's something like 63,300,000 that HAVE NOT voted for him to be re-instated. (and could in theory be against his re-instatement)
In TRUE BBC tradition the above fact does not reflect in either direction on my own personal opinion on the matter.
Never heard of the silent majority ie sensible people who do not sit a keyboards signing e-petitions dozens of times.
And if only you where one of them....

Under normal circumstance no, but undermining the Biased Broadcasting Company in any way possible sounds good to me.
coyoteboy - 12/3/15 at 07:22 PMPersonally I think they can do comedy pretty well and play on a number of light hearted jibes that you'll find pretty much everywhere. They don't actually take themselves seriously, but lots of other people else seem to, especially those who are looking to complain.
whitestu - 12/3/15 at 07:51 PMI think Steve Coogan is just miffed because a car programme makes better comedy than he does!

oh hang on just seen next doors dog taking a dump,
